Affordable and Assisted Living Housing

INTRODUCTION

Since 1956 the Legion in British Columbia has provided affordable housing for thousands of veterans and seniors. Today, the Legion is the largest non-profit provider of affordable living housing units in British Columbia with over 3,000 units currently operating. Assisted living accommodation has also been constructed or is under construction by Legion Branches, or arms-length Housing Societies within BC/Yukon Command, numbering approximately 1,100 units and many more on the drawing board.

Unique Federal, Provincial and Municipal partnerships engaged by the Legion, makes these community projects possible. It is through this type of community involvement with the Legion that the quality of life for veterans and seniors has improved.

REAL PROPERTY CONSULTANT
Veterans Affairs Canada has seconded a Real Property Consultant to Dominion Command to assist the Legion in further developing housing developments.  The Legion presently has 150 housing developments with approximately 7700 units across the nation.  These units include:  rental; low income rental; extended care, life lease and condominiums.  Legion Branches interested in using the services of the Real Property Consultant should contact Dominion Command.
