Legion Wins National Philanthropy Award

Vancouver Island BC/Yukon Branches, Ladies Auxiliaries and Poppy Funds won the prestigious National Philanthropy Award! The award is presented annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners which organize the 2011 National Philanthropy Day.

Here's a snippet of how the Legion is described:
"The members of the Royal Canadian Legions, Poppy Fund Committees and Auxiliaries have devoted thousands of hours over the years to raise funds to support veterans' and seniors' care. The red poppy dotting citizens' lapels every November stands as one of the greatest tribute fundraising efforts. It is synonymous with remembrance, honour, and respect."
